Is the Tern Setups portable monitor compatible with my device?
Our portable monitors are compatible with ALL laptops and desktop computers. It's possible to connect the external display in two ways. You can either use the included USB-C or HDMI cable.
Our monitors also work with tablets (both iOS and Android devices). Some iPad Pro M4 and M5 models may need to be connected via a Thunderbolt or USB-C to HDMI cable.
If you want to connect a USB-C monitor directly to a smartphone, the phone’s USB-C port must support DisplayPort (DP) Alt Mode. DP Alt Mode allows the USB-C port to carry video signals.
How does the monitor get power?
For most modern laptops, the monitor gets its power from the same USB-C cable that also carries the video, so there is no need for an external power supply. A power adapter is included in case the monitor needs external power.
The monitor is also capable of 40W power through delivery. This means that you can plug your laptop's charger into the monitor and it will power the monitor and charge your laptop at the same time.

Why doesn't my USB-C cable work?
The portable monitor comes with 2 USB-C cables. The cable labelled "Power Cable" is only meant for powering the monitor; it cannot carry video. Please use the 180-degree USB-C cable for video.
Does the magnet interfere with the electronics inside the monitor?
No, the magnet does not interfere with the electronic components inside the monitor.
While the magnet is strong enough to hold the portable monitor, it does not generate a magnetic field nearly as strong enough to interfere with the monitor's internal electronics. The components inside the portable monitor are too small to be affected by the stand's small neodymium magnet.
Lastly, our portable monitor stand has undergone rigorous testing to meet all safety and performance standards. This includes testing for any potential electromagnetic interference with electronic devices. The results have shown that our magnet does not pose any risk to the functionality or longevity of your monitor.
What is covered with the warranty?

Tern Setups warrants the portable monitor to be free from defects in materials and quality for one (1) year from the date of purchase. Exclusions:
This warranty does not cover misuse, accident, alteration, or normal wear and tear damages. Additionally, it does not cover damages caused by unauthorized repairs or modifications. Portability is where this thing really shines. It’s light, slim, and effortless to carry, yet performs like a full-size secondary screen. Setup takes seconds, and suddenly working on the go actually feels comfortable and productive. Hands down, this is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received and one of the most useful. If you travel, work remotely, or just want a clean dual-screen setup without clutter, this is a no-brainer.

A simple redesign of portable monitors, but much more ergonomic! I love the magnet/tripod idea - it makes viewing the screen so much more comfortable vs looking downwards, especially with long hours. The tripod has a ball-head similar to traditional tripods, allowing you to adjust the viewing angle. It’s also very lightweight and has a small enough footprint to use in a public space. When I was doing research there weren’t a lot of reviews, so just want to put it out there that if you work on the go a lot or just want a second screen, it’s great. The price is a heftier than a random Amazon one, but the quality and execution is much better. Customer service is also super responsive and fast.
Since last Sunday, we’ve been traveling through Southern Europe for three and a half months. The search took several weeks, but in the end, we decided to go ahead with this purchase. Im super happy with the screen. The quality feels really premium. I ordered the 1200p one for my MacBook Air M4 and it works perfect. Everything feels premium, from the cable plugging into my MacBook to the protection sleeve. I would really recommend this product.
Searched everywhere for a setup like this, found Tern Setups through a Reddit post. The more I compared Tern Setups to other options on the web, the more it became the clear winner. But I was nervous because most reviews were on its own website. So, I messaged that Reddit guy asking if he still felt positively about his setup a year later, he said something along the lines of "It still operates and looks brand new 12 months later, and I work with it everyday." Immediately, I pulled the trigger. No regrets! I waited 3 months to write this review. I've been using it every day while traveling; pictured is my makeshift standup desk while visiting Venice, FL. This mobile setup is hands down the best option available. It's built phenomenally, does everything you'd expect, and coupled with the TomToc hardcase (Tern Setups should partner with them), it's ridiculously easy to move around safely. I love how Tern Setups not only considered remote work, but remote work while traveling: the setup is light weight, durable, high-quality, and its components are built in a way that don't make them susceptible to breaking, such as some of their competitors' products that have protruding buttons. Every component was meticulously designed, and it's evident once you actually use and travel with it. Love it! Highly recommend this product.
I am very satisfied with the product from Tern Setups! I ordered it and it took 2 weeks to arrive, but I live in Texas so I wasn’t complaining. I was just excited to get this portable monitor and now I’m loving it every time I use it. Very convenient and it brings people attention as I had several people asking me about my monitor. I got it since April, 2025 and it’s currently July, 2025 and my monitor is still working fine without any issues. I recommend it for anyone who’s looking to purchase a portable monitor. $500 but it was worth it.
Fantastic portable monitor I’m extremely happy my 2.5K portable monitor. From the delivery experience to the product itself, everything has been excellent. The screen is incredibly light, thin, and easy to set up, making it perfect for working on the go. The image quality is fantastic, especially considering I went for the 2.5K model rather than one of the more premium options. The brightness is also a major plus — this was an issue with other portable monitors I’ve used before, but it’s absolutely not a problem here. My only piece of constructive feedback would be the magnetic mounting system. The magnet itself is strong and holds the monitor securely, but because the attachment is round and there’s no physical guide or recess to keep it perfectly positioned, the monitor can sometimes tilt slightly to one side or slide down a little if the magnet isn’t centered perfectly. A small positioning guide could probably solve this. That said, this is an small issue and doesn’t take away much from the experience. I’d still give it 5 stars without hesitation. Overall, I’m really impressed with the quality, portability, display and ease of use. It’s made working with a second screen while travelling so much easier. The screen was up to my expectations. However there is still space for improvement, regarding the magnatic stand. For example, it would be easier for the user to have some predefined positions for the magnet, instead of complete freedom. Also, instead of a totally circular shape you can try one with some vertices, like a pentagon or hexagon. This way, implementing both suggestion, the screen would never swift to either of the sides. Elegant Simplicity: The quality of the 3K OLED screen is phenomenal. The setup of the wiring and monitor placement is super simple and intuitive. The tool- and hardware-free magnetic connection is outstanding. If the monitor tilts a little, just place it a bit to one side or the other on the magnet. The collapsible monitor stand is both minimal and highly functional. Well done!

I love this monitor. I was a bit skeptical at first because there is no reviews but when this arrived i was amazed on how good the screen is and love that i can stack it on top of my laptop. Its also a good portrait monitor too! This lets me work inside my car and still be productive.
Great monitor, but a few improvements would make it a 5-star product I’ve been using this monitor as part of my daily workflow with an M5 iPad Pro, Mac devices and even tested it with a PS5 (EA26). The display itself is excellent. The 2.5K resolution is sharp, the USB-C connectivity is up to date, and it fits perfectly into a modern remote working setup. For my use case, the screen quality and overall experience are exactly what I was looking for. That said, there are a few things that stop this being a 5-star product: 1. Stand stability – The magnetic stand works well, but unless the magnet is positioned almost perfectly, the monitor tends to lean slightly towards the side where the cables are connected. It’s not a deal breaker, but it does mean regularly adjusting the screen to keep it level. Once the position is correct, it stays stable until the next time you set it up again. 2. Include a proper USB-C power/video cable – A monitor at this price should include a high-quality USB-C cable capable of carrying both power and video. Having to purchase the correct cable separately feels unnecessary. 3. Include an angled HDMI cable or adapter – The side-mounted ports make an angled HDMI connector much neater and reduce strain on the port. Again, this is something customers shouldn’t really have to buy separately. 4. Improve the carry case – The supplied pouch only protects the screen itself. There’s nowhere to store the stand, cables or accessories. Considering this is marketed as a portable monitor, I’d love to see either a larger travel case included or at least an optional custom travel case designed to carry the complete setup. Despite these points, I still think this is an excellent portable monitor. The display quality, resolution and connectivity are exactly what I needed, and with a few thoughtful accessories included in the box, this would easily be a 5-star product.

Tern Setups portable monitor is well designed in terms of functionality of the ports on the monitor and satisfactory speaker performance .No need to say anything about mobility freedom that comes with it . In addition to the all , product design is supporting hdmi connection for old laptops and Usb-C connection for new laptops ,mobile phones and also Ipad/iphone. Usb-A port is perfectly thought. I am using it for the USB mouse with an Ipad .The box of the monitor is covering all necessary parts ( e.g HDMI/usb-c and usb-c power cable, power adapter, case/cover for the monitor) for old and new laptops,Mobiles,iPhone/iPad . I chose the monitor with stand and I strongly recommend this combination because of full mobility freedom that is provided by the Tern Setups. Loving my monitor. I've had this for about 8 months already and it became my go-to monitor and part of daily work setup. It is very light and versatile, being able to set it up quickly at any time. It is very pleasant to being to able to use the same setup in different places, whereas at an airpot in a long scale, co-work, café, my own kitchen or during a long train ride (picture). I really like the 4K mate finish, it is very easy on the eyes and perfect to work. I am a software developer. There was an issue with a dead pixel after some months but the support was really helpful trying to solve it and they ended up replacing the unit with a new one, which works great.
just ordered the product with 1-day delivery. It arrived super fast today and overall I love it! However, I do have some constructive feedback: First, a small dislike is that you can't adjust the monitor directly you have to loosen the screw first, then adjust it. It's okay for now, but I'll see in a week if that becomes an issue in my daily workflow. On a positive note, the magnet is actually very strong! I was initially scared it would be weak based on some reviews saying it was wobbly, but that's definitely not the case. Additionally, I wish the stand could go a little higher (maybe 5-10cm taller). I'm a very tall person (197cm), so while sitting, it's a bit too short for me. It would be great if you offered a second, taller variant in the future. Lastly, regarding the cables: I saw that the 'What's in the box' section lists two USB-C cables, and I did receive them. However, in your promotional videos, the setup is shown with just one clean cable that handles both power and display. Considering the premium price (I paid 725 Euros for the 3K OLED and magnetic stand), it's a bit disappointing to realize I have to go to Amazon to buy a specific single cable to achieve the clean look advertised in your videos. It would be a much better customer experience if you included this specific 1-cable solution in the box, or at least offered it as a very clear upsell on the product page. A screen protector would also be a great addition at this price point
Excellent product & very simple to setup. Excellent, super-quick customer support when I had a query on powering laptop via screen (which it does). I bought the 4k screen for travelling, but have now incorporated it into my home set up as a third portrait screen for reading docs. Very nice!

I bought a 4K OLED screen (and the stand) a year ago and all I can say is that the setup is working very nicely and the screen quality is very good, totally worth it.
I recently purchased a 4K OLED monitor, and I’m genuinely impressed by its picture quality—everything from the accurate colors to the incredibly sharp images. I also appreciate having an HDMI port as a display option, which frees up the USB‑C port for other devices. Plus, the OLED monitor supports pass‑through charging, allowing me to connect a single USB‑C cable for both power and data. Overall, the performance and visual quality have exceeded my expectations. The monitor is genuinely incredible, I highly recommend the choice of 4K, the colors and quality are just as good as my macbook pro, and its so lightweight its like this was what i was looking for in my remote work life. The stand is also amazing and 1000% worth getting, I love that the monitor can also stand on its own if needed, the design is just immaculate. The only suggestion i would make to Tern is to maybe have an indent of where the magnetic stand should go because if you don’t center it right then the monitor will tilt in the direction where you plug in your wire due to the weight imbalance, but this is a minor thing.
I was a little skeptical over this monitor given the setup with the stand is priced quite a lot higher than other on the market. However, I am extremely impressed with how easy it is to carry around and the quality of the setup. If you are travelling a lot for work it is amazing to take this second screen around - it's just like an office setup. Unfortunately I only purchased the base level monitor (which is excellent) but now I am curious to try the 4K one!

Really impressed by the quality! I bought the 4k IPS screen and it has superb colours and a non-reflective coating which helps to avoid reflections in sunny environments. The size and resolutions work perfectly with my 15' Macbook air. The stand is also piece of ergonomic art and reminds of the quality of my favourite Manfrotto camera stand. Overall a great, quality lightweight solution for a portable setup.
I saw the advertisement on Instagram and decided to purchase it due to its portable design and flexibility to use for different needs or setup. Overall, I am really, really happy with my purchase! The monitor allows me to work efficiently and productively in a small home space where I use mainly folding table as my work station. It also allows me to feel professional, motivated and focused, without needing to spend more money and consider office rental or working at a café. I wasn’t thinking about ergonomics at all when I made this purchase, but it’s probably my favorite thing about the Terns stacked setup. The top monitor is right at eye level, so I don’t have to hunch down or bend my neck, and I’m able to work for much longer before getting fatigued. Also, the screen resolution is fantastic. Great for staring at detailed spreadsheets all day!
