About Us
We design portable setups for people who work with multiple screens.
Our goal is simple: make a full desk setup fit inside a backpack.
Tern Setups was founded in 2022 and operates from Estonia and the United States.

The Problem With Remote Work
Remote work promised mobility.
But most professionals rely on multiple screens to remain productive.
Once you leave the office, your setup usually collapses to a single laptop display. Portable monitors exist, but most solutions come with compromises:
1. The quality of the displays is low.
2. They don't match the ergonomics of a real workspace.
We believed there had to be a better way.

Our Approach
We build tools that make it possible to work productively while travelling.
That means focusing on:
Display Quality - high-end panels that match pro laptops.
Ergonomics - screens at eye level, not on the desk.
Portability - everything fits into a backpack.
Instead of adapting traditional desk equipment for travel, we design systems specifically for mobile work.

Why We Started
When remote work became widely accepted in 2020, I was excited to use the freedom that came with it. However, I realised I couldn’t leave my home office since my 27’’ desktop monitor wasn’t portable. I worked as a solutions delivery engineer and needed two screens: one for displaying the application and the other for client calls.
I was looking for a great monitor that I could use ergonomically and fit in a backpack. Surprisingly, I discovered that existing IPS portable monitors were heavy, had low brightness and resolution, and could not be raised to eye level. Furthermore, there were no OLED portable monitors on the market.
I tried elevating the portable monitor using a pile of books or a laptop stand. However, I discovered something important. Since portable monitors were lighter than professional cameras, I could use a tripod with a clever magnetic system inside the monitor.
This discovery and the lack of high-quality portable monitors led to our one-of-a-kind portable monitor setup. In 2024, thanks to a team of experienced designers and engineers, we brought it to life!
